Safe and Sustainable by Design Framework: SSbD implementation in PRESERVE
Making Chemicals and materials safer and more sustainable to protect human health and the environment is the goal of the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) assessment framework introduced by the European Commission in 2022 as a voluntary general approach.
The framework aims to:
- steer the innovation process towards the green and sustainable industrial transition
- substitute or minimise the production and use of substances of concern, in line with, and beyond existing and upcoming regulatory obligations
- minimise the impact on health, climate and the environment during sourcing, production, use and end-of-life of chemicals, materials and products
At PRESERVE, ITENE is leading the implementation of the SsbD framework to assess the new chemicals and materials being developed for the project.
In order to present the framework and its application in the PRESERVE project, ITENE, in collaboration with European Bioplastics, NTT and KNEIA, is organising the training "Safe and Sustainable by Design Framework: SSbD implementation in PRESERVE". The training will take place on 30 April 2024 online, from 10 to 11 CET.
Registrations are open on Eventbrite.
In this Training, you will be able to follow the case study of EU funded project PRESERVE in its implementation of the assessment framework.
The ITENE research centre provides companies with cutting-edge knowledge and technology to build a safer, more sustainable future. Their mission is to generate scientific and technological knowledge that they transfer to companies through R&D and innovation projects and consultancy, testing and training services. They also deliver solutions in four main areas: sustainable materials and technologies for the circular economy; design, safety and functionality in packaging; chemical exposure and air quality monitoring; and logistics and smart mobility.
